Tribute to Richard and the Causeway Adult Music Group

We have a fabulous group of adults who love going on Friday nights to the village of Causeway to learn a new tune.

We are treated to fabulous hospitality by Mary Yallop in whose establishment we meet. Nobody makes a cup of tea as good as Mary. A lovely session follows the tea and chat before we make our way home.

Before the COVID-19 lockdown, we had just recorded a number of tunes and the entire group was photographed. This was a real high to finish on. Richard Casey our teacher has taught us so many tunes over a number of years.

We come from all over Kerry on Friday nights and yet we are a very close and social group, as well as being a well in tune music group.

Since the lockdown, Richard who is cocooning himself, hasn't forgotten us. We get a new tune every Friday via WhatsApp and on Tuesdays we get some of our older tunes to revise. It is so comforting knowing we haven't been forgotten.

Last Tuesday I opened up my WhatsApp for this week's revision tune and I went from feeling a little low to wanting to dance round my kitchen.

I know the entire group are full of appreciation and respect for Richard and appreciate the commitment he has given us over a number of years.

He's such an ordinary man and at the same time so extraordinary, generously still looking after his class during this lockdown.

The entire group thank Richard and hopefully we will return to enjoy the Causeway classes together again.
